Houston Giants trade: Andres Gimenez CLE 2B (24-25: 0.5m) Oswaldo Cabrera NYY IF/OF (24-26: 0.5m) Jake Eder CWS SP MiLB prospect Christian McGowan PHI SP MiLB prospect
Philadelphia Athletics trade: Spencer Steer CIN IF/OF (24-27: 0.5m) Jeff McNeil NYM 2B/OF (24: 2m, 25: 3m)
Houston Giants confirm. I’ve been after Steer for quite a while. Big thank you to Rod for continuing to field ideas until we found a solution. While losing Gimenez’ speed hurts, I’m excited about Steer’s OBP skills and positional flexibility (at least for 2024). Hopefully Steer takes another step forward in that young Reds lineup. McNeil’s serviceable OBP should provide depth at 2B and OF. Best of luck to Rod, hope this works out for us both.

I confirm. These negotiations actually started at a club in Soho back in 1075 as the Sex Pistols rocked the stage and Absinthe flowed through our veins. Finally, 49 years later, we arrived at this iteration of the deal.
I didn't want to part with Steer, and I have some concerns about the drop-off that Gimenez experienced last season, but he's young and athletic and could potentially be an impact player for me. I like the bounce back potential of Eder and McGowan now that they're further removed from TJS. And I didn't have anyone named Oswaldo on my team, so that explains his inclusion.
Best of luck to Chad and the Giants and RIP Sid and Nancy.
