Reasoning: Henry reached out to see if I was interested in Fried and anytime you can get a younger top-20 pitcher, I am willing to listen. We tossed around a few names and I think Henry is getting some nice prospects with upside a few years down the road while I get a potential ace and free up a few more roster spots for free agency. Good luck to Henry with his haul of assets!

Miami agrees. Great catching up with Brian who has an excellent team and excellent minors. It was a quick negotiation, even though it’s a real pity to give up Fried and a big decision as his performance has been so extremely good, Brian was good to respect this and part with some interesting young prospects. That is on top of Bello who hopefully can make the next step this year and become a top-30 pitcher, with upside beyond maybe. All in all I diversify and build for the long term; meanwhile I hope Fried is a star for the Cardinals and a major force in the title race this year!
