Actually for Blach, Stratton, and Rodriguez, they would be placed on waivers, with the intention of sending to minors if cleared waivers.  There's a 48-hour waiver period, during which time any team can claim one of them.  Only players who are on a $0 contract year can be "demoted" per say.  All others would go through waivers, with the posting of those in the "Player Release & Waivers" thread.
