Cincy Logic: Michael announced Soto could be available, and here we are. I am trading away the entire first half of my draft, 15 good prospects, and 2 good MLB OF in order to acquire Mr Soto. I felt like I had enough prospect depth to justify this Gurriel to Soto upgrade. Time will tell if this was overly ambitious on my end, but I really wanted Soto.
Nice talks with Michael, thanks and good luck.

Had a lot of interest in Soto, including 2 25-for-1 offers, an 18-for-1 and a 17-for-1. It was a tough decision but I liked this offer best, partly because I really like Lourdes Gurriel and because of the quality of prospects and picks and, of course, the depth. This really rebuilds the depleted farm system I inherited when I took over this team last winter. Thanks and good luck to Bailey.

Commish approved and processed. Make sure to update your Team Roster page and Fantrax.

I just want to chime in and say that I am 100% against this trade. There is absolutely no way this is of equal value and as good as Soto is, this is extremely lopsided in the favor of Washington. I also think this sets a horrible precedent. This is the down side of what appears to be auctioning off players rather than having actual trade discussions.
Brent is the Commish and his ruling stands, but this trade is absolutely vetoable.
Just my two cents.

I think this is bad precedent. Like Brandon said, it's an auction. Not a trade. đź‘Ž

Hmm, my 2 cents: I think I would have been rightly criticized had I negotiated a trade with just the person who came to me and said, “Hey, what would it take to get Soto?” My reply was, “Well, which 10 players are on offer?” That was meant not to convey that Soto was available but, rather, that he would not come cheap. When I received a 10 for 1 offer shortly thereafter, I replied that I had to open it to the whole league. Which I did, advertising for a 10 to 1 since that was on the table. Most players declined to make an offer because they smartly didn’t want to deplete their roster for 1 player no matter how good. But half a dozen did make offers and four did exceed 10 by offering multiple draft picks. I ultimately counseled 3 of those guys that they should consider dropping out because one player appeared bound and determined to get Soto and he had the resources in prospects and picks to do it. One player responded that he was an adult and understood the consequences of continuing to add to his offer. In the end I had 4 exceptional offers and, arguably, the final 2 were equal. I picked one. I had no intent to trade Soto but the opportunity to replenish a farm system depleted by my predecessor was too good to pass up. I naturally was pleased with the return. But I apologize to anyone I offended in this process. Trading should be fun, not a source of friction. I’m sorry if I made it less fun.

I don't have any issue with this, and I would actually still take Soto over the package. Soto is probably the #1 dynasty asset in OBP, and this package is one of depth, but nothing anywhere close to a guarantee. Sure, there's upside with Michael's side, but their isn't a stud prospect. I see two teams in very different positions making a deal that is best for them. And you better believe that every MLB team goes to multiple teams asking for better offers before they trade a guy. It's why so many deals come down to the last minute t the deadline. Everyone is jockeying to get their best offer in. Honestly, a lot of times I wish this happened more in our leagues, as I will often see a guy traded and think, "I would have offered way more for that guy if I knew he was available."

I ran into this exact kind of thing this past year in another league. Yes Michael got what he wanted. Yes Bailey got what he wanted. But as a league this is HORRIBLE. This is what I call a league ruiner. This trade could change everything going forward when to trade, size of offer, what goes into the trade, what is fair and not and so on. While we run our own teams we also have the obligation to fairly coexist in the league. It shouldn't be solely on Brent's and Brandon's shoulders.
This isn't about winning a year here and year there. If this keeps up the league will be so top heavy we will have to scrap it, and start over in a couple years, and I for one really don't want that to happen.

Bailey still has like 25 Top 200 prospects, because he has fleeced people so bad in other trades. I think he'll be ok, lol. Honestly, this may be one of the most even ones he's ever made. I see about 1/4 of the trades that get accepted and think, "Why the hell is he giving up that good major leaguer for those fringe prospects." In this case, Michael got enough quantity to outweigh that, in my opinion.
